Bradley Stoke is a new town that was built on old farm land north of Bristol during the late 1980s. The town forms the northern periphery of Greater Bristol's suburbs and supports nearly 30,000 inhabitants within its mainly residential areas.
The farmland that is now Bradley Stoke was once divided between the local civil parishes of Stoke Gifford and Almondsbury and included Bailey's Court Farm, Watch Elm Farm, Bowsland Farm, Manor Farm and Webb's Farm.
When it was built, Bradley Stoke was said to be largest private housing estate in Europe but the recession and high interest rates of the early 1990’s saw many properties falling into negative equity, before the property market began booming again. Since then Bradley Stoke has seen considerable investment and development, with the completion of a road joining the north and south side of the town and several retail chains setting up in the newly established town centre, which is named Willow Brook.
