Cemetery plots investment scam

Investment scams are not uncommon, but South Gloucestershire Trading Standards would like to remind residents to remain suspicious when presented with an investment opportunity that looks too good to be true.

Action Fraud have recently received complaints from people who have been contacted out of the blue with offers of investment opportunities in cemetery plots. The callers often use aggressive sales tactics to sell the plots.

Other investment scams including the selling of shares in oil wells, the purchase of diamonds or high value wine.

The advice being offered is to treat cold calls offering investment opportunities with suspicion, especially if they offer high returns which seem too good to be true.
